Mlather cut his freshman baseball team down to 5,7 candidates yesterday, of whom 17 are pitchers. Cuts on the squad will be made until the latter part of next week when Coach Mather hopes to have the team down to workable size. The work up to now has consisted mainly of extensive batting practice, infield workouts and pepper games, but .for; the first tine yesterday a practice game was inaugurated into the general routine.
