mandl also, as Grube, who has played
that position for three years, is lost.
One or two of last year's backs prob-
ably' will be looked over for end ma-
terial, Wieman said. While OosteaR-
baan and Flora were able to play vir-
tually all the time last year, such luck
is unusual, and in addition, an end
must be developed to take the platce of
Flora a year hence.
Freshmen of known ability have
shown up 'for most of the positions
and the problem of Coach Yost and his
assistants will be to inculcate the de-
tails of the Michigan system of play
and determine which of the men have
the, ability to deliver, under 'fire, the
quality which makes or breaks a foot-
ball team.
The spring coaching staff will be
the same at that which taught the
Varsity last fall, with Fielding H.
Yost in general charge, Coach Wie-
man in charge of the lin~e and Blott
helping with the center trio. Cappon,
next year head coach at Kansas, will
spend his time with the men running
interference, teaching blocking, whilex
Kipke will work with the ball car-
riers and the kickers,.

Charley Hoff, world's champion
pole vaulter and all around athlete,
is preparing to invade the western
cities of this country: He left New
York yesterday for Chicago the first
stop of his continental tour. Hoff,
plans to compete at Columbus, 0.,_
Omaha, Neb., Kansas City, Mo., the'
University of Iowa, Seattle, Wash., San
Francisco, Los Angeles, and the Drake
relays.
Two baseball teams have been or-
ganized by the Democrats and Repub-
licans in the House of Representatives.
They will play for the Congressional
championship.
The golden jubilee tennis champion-
ship will be played at Wimbledon,
Eng., beginning June 21. All players
