I have read with much interest the prospectus of the thirty-third May
Festival which you have been good enough to send me. It has been very
gratifying to me as an alumnus of the University whose interest in music is
naturally very keen, to see the constant progress made in the programs of
your festivals, not only in the works to be performed, but in the list of
artists employed.
The May Festival at Ann Arbor has come to play a very vital part
in the development of musical life in Michigan. The program which you
have outlined for this year strikes me as admirable in every respect. I only
wish that I were able to attend some of the concerts.
