Angell, '78, of Detroit, speaking as the third lecturer in the series of the School of Rleligion, in room C of the Law build- j ing yesterday afternoon. "A lawyer is always confronted with moral problems," said Judge An- gell. "Moral problems are involved in the relations of a lawyer with the courts, other lawyers, his clients, and his community. Many clients go on 1 the theory that the end justifies the mens , so that an attorney is often # temped to present in court an infer- ence of fact or a conclusion which, he does not sincerely believe. But he must avoid even the color of deceit. "Due to the great~ increase in the number of lawyers in the large cen- ters of population, there have been included men of low moral tone. This minority has been responsible for most of the criticism of the legal pro-, fession." Judge Angell was a member of the faculty of the Law school from 1893 to 1898, and at the present time is an attorney in Detroit. He is the son of James Burrill Angell, fourth pres- ident of the University.
