Last night's presentation markedj the close of "Castles in Spain" the 21 annual offering of the Junior women, I six performances of which have been given at ;the Whitney theatre during t~he past week Attendance has been uniformly. good and the audiences very appreciative according to Nor- ma Bicknell, '26, general chairman, andII arif we are to judge by these signs and the praise of the critics the play was an even greater success than was last year's production. Following the tradition which barred men entirely for many years, no men, were admlitted to the first performance 1 which was given Tuesday night. Thej audience was made up almost ex- clusively of senior women, dressed, in cap and gown, in whose honor itt was given. Following a banquet at the Union, they marched to the Whit- ney 400 strong, anti gave the play the I first of the enthusiastic welcomes nwhich have met it throughout the " Week. Wednesday night, the general public was admitted for the first time. Crit- icisms have been unanimous in call- ing this play directed by Miss Amy I Loomis, '22, a decided success. Coin- parison with the Union opera has, been decidedly in favor of the former. The play itself, written by a comn- mittee composed of Ruth Carson, chairman, Helen Ramsay, and Lucy Wilson is concerned with a party of Michigan students and professors and their adventures during a trip to Spain in search of a treasure with1 which to support the building of the Woman's League building. The sec- ond act has thus been given by means. of costumes and dancing, a decidedlyI y Spanish coloring. The 'superiority of the costuming, especially, has ar- oused considerable comment. These were made especially for the p~roduc- tion by Christy and Co. of New York, who also imported the Spanish shawls, all of which are new, especially for' W h n o d rndo n 't f o r g e t o s e i l a ae maple, nut.
