Miss Blanche Tlowell, formea cianl;

Josephine Clark, '24 arrived in Oak-j
land, California,, a few days ago hav-
ing made the trip from Ann Arbor in
a Ford. Their journey is ain exa:nl Ie
of the novel experiences which are
open to the. modern girl.
Miss Clark and Miss Rowell loft
heire about July 1, on their tour west.
They held an agency for books whichI
they sold at towns on the way.
The first stop, at Oshkosh, Wiscon-
sin they reported, was not so goodl
from a business point of view. How-
ever on the whole, selling boons
proved to be a very successful work
for them.
Their route lay through the north-
ern states and down the Pacific coast,
and the Ford funcitioned too well to
be exciting. Miss Howell has ac-
cepted a position in Oakland.
The need of "hostess" service in the
leading hotels of large cities like Ne"='
York, has created a new calling for
refined, well educated young women.
and numbers of them 'lave found it
