GROSS COUNTRY SQUAD Under a burning sun the first ar- rivals of the Michigan hill and dale3 squad took their opening workout of the season over the Ferry Field course Thursday afternoon. Twelve men answered the first call of - Coach Steve Farrell including Captain Shenefleld, Mason, Wagner, Callahan, Reinke, and Amstutz, to- gether with four members of the last years frshman squad. SUMMEREROLLMENT OF WOMEN: INCREAS Out of the total enrollment of 3,109 students in the summer session of the University, 1,050 were women, accord- ing to figures compilled by Miss Helen C. Bishop, in the office of the Dean of Women. Five hundred and five students out of the 1,131 registered in the College of Literature, science and the arts were women and 15 women were in- cluded in the enrollment of 419 stu- dents in the Engineering school. The Medical school registered 24 womern during the summer session and the school of pharmacy enrolled three. The total increase of students in the University for the year 1923-1924 in- cluding the 1923 summed session was 841 out of which 56 were women.
