FROM LOUISIANA9 BALOT
Washington, Sept. 30.-(By A. P.)
--~Robert Lahollette, in a statement
tonight declared that th-e refusal of
the attorney general of Louisiana to
place the name of the LaIollette-
Wheeler electors on the ballot in that
state, and the (definite report that
coimes from ichjigan that legal tech-
nicalities are to be used *there by the
two political machines to accomplish
the same purpose, show how desper-
ate the reactionaries in both of the
old Iparties consider their cause."
"The legal a~rm of the government
wvhich sh,,,uld be thle most potent fac-
tor in helping I he people1 to express
heir will freely at the polls, ," con-
Ltnuedl the se nator's statement, "is
nstinctively b)eng appealed to by the
reactionary forces which dominate
the two old parties to help defeat
their free expression."
"Put all of these efforts «i ll
eventually fail of their purpose.
t'hese attempts to dep~rive the peo-
ple at the ballot box of the utmost
freedom of choice, s to who shsall

will react izost disastrously against
those guilty of trying to p~revent the
fullest expression of the people's.
