Prizes for Essays in Journalism: * The following announcement has been received from Mr. Frank D. Facken- thal, Secretary of the Columbia Univen sity: "In addition to the endowment of the School of Journalism of Columbia University, the late Joseph Pulitzer provided for the establishment of a num ber of prizes. Under the provisions of the bequest three prizes, one of $1000 and two of $500 will be awarded for the best history of the services rendered to the public by the American press during the year 1924, provided always tlhat essays received are deemed of sufficient merit to justify an award. Manu- scripts sent in for competition must reach the hands of the Secretary of the University not later than Feburary 1st, 1925. Further particulars and forms of application for candidature may be obtained from the Secretary." Frank A. Robbins. University of Michigan Band: Special rehearsel tonight at seven o'clock will be held at the band head- quarters in Morris Hall. All men whose names appeared in the tenative list of members are requested to report at this time as this rehearses is most important. New men who have not had a tryout should also be present at this time as it is their last opportunity before the final list of players is an- nounced. Regular rehearsel will be held Wednesday night.
