team will start practice the latter part
of next week, Coach Barnes announced
yesterday. As there is not sufficient
heighth at the Y. M. C. A. pool to
practice difficult dives, a sprinboard
is to be erected in Yost Field House.
A two foot layer of shavings and saw-
(ust is to be provided for the men to
land in, so that there will be no dan-
ger of them injuring themselves.1
Dick Papenguth and Wittingham
are the only divers back from last
year's squad, but Coach Barnes hopes
to develop new men from some of
Dr. George May's gymnasts whom he
has invited to come down to Varsity
practice and learn some pointers. Pap-
enguth had a bad year in 1923-24, but
he has been practicing all summer
and the Coach is confident that he can
return to the style of diving that he
showed in his sophomore year. Wit-
tingham devoted most of .his time to
swimming last season, but with a
scarcity of diving material, he will
probably drop his attempts at racing
and rgiveall his time to his spring-
board work.

ference meet last year at Chicago, and
surprised followers of acquntic sport
by winning first place in the relay.
