Oberlin Student Compares Rules Of Two Schools "Regulations for college women at Oberlin are much more rigid than here at the University of Mich'igan," -states a student, who has recently transferred to the University from C'berlin, and then naively adds, "You see -.t Oberlin, there are four girls to one man and the poor male must be protected." Oberlin is a relatively small col- lage. However, people of many differ- ont nationalities are attracted there by the broadminded views shaxd by that college. +Oberlinwas the first college to admnit the negro and to in- troduce co-education. Freshmen women are required to be in at 8 o'clock; sophomores at 8:30; juniors and seniors at 9:30 o'clock. Until three years ago danc- ing was not permitted. Then, it was introduced as an experiment and now has become established by vote of the students. On week nights, there is dancing from 7 to 8 o'clock and on Saturdays, until 9:30 o'clock. The Junior and Senior Proms begin at 7 and close at 11 o'clock. Women are not permitted to go automobile riding except with rela- tives, and on Sunday, they may not go walking with men, unless they go to church. The freshmen men - wear bright green caps, with' yellow buttons sin- ilar to the pot worn ty the Michigan student. The big event of the year isj the "Bag Rush" which corresponds to the "Cane Spree" here and is quite as strenuous. Oberlin has a very fine conserva- tory, a literary department and theo- logical department. The college is, active in missionary work and main- tains a branch in Shanghai. Pray- er Day and Shanghai Day are as much of an institution there as Tra- ditions Day at Michigan. 1W0M:N1S CLUB H~li '~GET-TOGETHER MEETIN The first regular meeting of the Women's club which wos held at 2:30 o'clock last Tuesday at Lane hall was in the form of a get-together meet- ing rather than a business meeting.
