T lr Will Figh t Censors - - - - FLEW EPOCH-MAKING RUN FROM CHICAGO TO AKRON Ralph H. Upson, internationally- famous flyer and balloon racer, will give a two hour lecture course in the Aeronautical Engineering department' next semester, it was announced yes- terday by Prof. Felix W. Palowski, head of that department. Mr. Upson's course will be on the theory and de- sign of lighter-than-air craft. The course will be either two days a week, one hour, or two hours once a week according to the desire of the students. Mr. Upson, who is a graduate of! Stevens Institute of Technology, won the Gordon-Bennett cup for inter- national balloon racing twice. He also won the American national bal- loon race three times. Most notable of his accomplish- ments has been the holding of the position of chief engineer with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber company in their aeronautical department from' 1914 to 1920, producing most of the Anferican balloons and airships used1 during the war. Mr. Upson also has] the honor of flying the first United. States Navy coast patrol airship from] Chicago to Akron, Ohio, in a demon-1 stration flight in 1917. Mr. Upson's lectures will be approx- imately a combination of courses Aero 7, 8,. and 10 that are in the cata- logue for next semester. NAAL RESERE UNIT fT ENROLLS270 NEW MEN At the first regular meeting of the Naval Reserve unit held in the Union last night 20 new men were enrolled and the general course of drill and study was Gntlined to the 40 men who have already signed up. It is planned by Ensign Dodd, con- manding officer, that the weekly meet- ing shall be devoted partly to drill, the study of navigation and a general study of the rules of the navy. The unit is now divided into two divisions headed by Ensigns Hartman and Lee. There will be another meeting of the Naval Reserve unit at 7:30 o'clock next Wednesday night at the Union where there will be more opportunity to enroll in the organization.
