Mmne. Leblanc is uni- versally regarded as one of the fore- most* living dramatic artists, a woman of rare histrionic talents and wonder- ful exotic beauty; "like a sinuous, golden peacock," as one critic declar- ed recently. Her Detroit recital is her only appearance in this locality and many devotees of the drama and the French language are planning to 'at- tend. Mmne. Leblanc has arranged a pro- gram well calculated to exhibit her Imanifold talents. She will recite' the famous Tower scene from Maeter- linck's "Pelleas and, Melisande" and the equally famous Tent scene from the same author's 'Monna Vanna"'. Muse.; Leblanc rossesses the distinct- ion of having played "Pelleas" for the' first time with Sarah Bernhardt. She is generally regarded as Maeter- inck'6 Inspiration for. both dramas. ISome short poems of Baudelaire and Verlaine will illustrate French. lyric poetry. Mmne. Leblanc has added, to these an unconvential musical pro- gram of songs by Igor Stravinsky, Reynoldo Hahn, Bizet, .Gretchaninoff, Alfred Casella,}, Gaillard, Bordes and Poulenc. She is. said to possess a splendid voice, although as with most singers of her type, mere vocal beauty' is not the aim of her singing. Tickets will be on sale before the recital at '$2 and $3. E.H.A.
