his ft lecture on "Statistics and 'natural Philosophy" this afternoon at
4:* e 4£in ~ Wet-Lecture Room, Physics Building. All members of the

Pudlic Lecture:
Professor William H. Hobbs of the Geology Department of the University
will give an illustrated lecture on "Earthquakes, Their Cause and Effect,
an4: the Possibility, of their prediction", uinder the, joint auspices of the
Society of the Sigma Xi and the Junior Research Club. on Friday evening,
March 28, at 8:00 o'clock, in the Natural Science Auditorium.
All member's of these Societies, the faculty, student body and anyone
interested in the progress of science are cordially invitedi to be present.

To Students in Ciil Engineering:
The new curriculum in (Civil Engineering will become effective with the
academic year 1924-1925. Students in college now have the option of the
present or the new curriculum, excepting that those students who are due tc,
take Surveying IlI (Summer Camp) in 1924 shall not be excused from this
requirement without the approval of Professors Riggs and Johnston.

Mr. Upson' wishes me 'to announce that due to an, error the equation
given in the last problem is that for the moment and niot the transverse force.
Consequently the term X should' be omitted.

H~ighiSchool 'Observation .
During the week beginning Monday, March 31st, Mr. Thompson will
make the observation assignment for the second half of the work. The fol-
lowing changes have been made in the High School Scedule. Students
should note these changes and come prepared to adjust, themselves to
their.
The changes are as follows.
Chemistry:-Not open at 8:00 and .9:00. The classes that are open are
10:00 daily; 11:00KM W., and Th.; 1:00 daily; 2:00 M. WV. and Th.
To Miss Bennett's schedule has been added:--Zoology at 11.:00 anq&
Botany at 2:00.
Miss Tinkhaml will not be open for observation at 11:00 but she hat.I
added Modern History at 1:00.
Miss Duff's class in English 8 reciting at 1:00 will be off on Monday
not Tuesday as written on previous program.,
The same plan, as to change of schedule on Tu~esdlays and Thursdays
will be in effect during this period. C. 0. Day Is.
