"I want to win back- the title without any mud-slinging, and in this case, I can say that Dempsey won through no un- derstanding with me or any of my ad- RIFLECLUB 6GRANTED The University of Michigan Rifle club was granted official recognition by the office of the Dean of Men shortly before the beginning of the Xmas vacation. This club has for its aim the promotion of rifle shooting in the University, and the furthering of competition in firing as a sport be-# tween Michigan and the colleges and universities. Any man on the campusi is eligible for membership. A challenge from DePauw univer- sity for a match on March 31 has been accepted, and preparations are under way for several other matches, among them the city rifle team of Ann Ar- bor. The purpose of the club is not so 'much in the gathering together of men, who are already finished shots as to develop men into good shots, and coaching is furnishel to all members. Wrestlig Coach Meets Mat Squade Coach Botcher, new wrestling men- tor, made his initial appearance in his new position Tuesday afternoon in Waterman gymnasium when he work- ed out with more than 15 wrestling enthusiasts. Considering the conception that many students had formed that wrestl- ing was not going to be taught this year, the first turnout was gratifying, Coach Botcher expressing his appre- ciation at the number appearing and the favorable attitude that all of them took toward the work ahead. The main part of the first workout consisted of learning holds to be tak- en from the standing position. Coach Botcher working with one of the men demonstrated them effectively and added a little comment with each as he went through tiem.
