All Faculty m~embers Please Note:
The Regents, JIan. 10, 1919, established a plan of annuity to replace the
Carnegie free pension plan not available for any teacher entering the
Faculty after Nov. "17, 1915. This annuity plan will furnish support for
Faculty members retiring after reaching the age limit, or when necessi-
tated ,by disability. The dependence of a fixed retirement-age limit upon a
scheme for retiring allowances necessitates making participation in the
annuity, plan a condition of membership in the University Faculty, as stated
below.
The University and the Faculty member contribute equally to the carry-
ing. out o f'this plan. On the basis of thet interest rate guaranteed by the
Annuity Association, the plats is thus equivalent to a one hundred and eight
per cent investment for the Faculty member.
1. Participation in this plan is not permitted to Faculty members
eligible under the ; old free pension plan of the Carneige Foun-
dation.
II. Participation in this plan is optional for all Faculty members en-
tering the service of the University with rank of Instructor or
higher between Nov.. 17, 1915, and June 36, 1919, inclusive, and
for instructors of leas than three years standing who have en-
tered the service of, the University since July 1.., 1919.
111. Participation in this pVlan is obligatory upon
(a) All Senate Members who were not in University Eervice with
rank of instructor or higher on or before July 1, 1919.
(b) All instructors of over three. years standing who were not
in University service with rank of Instructor or higher on
or before July 1, 1919.

London, Nov. 22.-(Special)..- Thel
sweep~ing gain achieved by the Labor
party in the recent general elections
in Great Britian was the sensational
feature of the elections. The. Labor
party gained 38 seats in parliament.
As a result of this plienominal gain
labor leaders see a labor group of
powerful possibilities formning in the
lower house. Four of the prominent
Labor men+ to win seats are John R.
('lynes, noted labor leader; Bill Tit-

win seats. Above,, lien Tillett, left,
J. H. 'Thomas, left, and Jiohn Ri.
lett, secretary of the dock workers'
union ;J. H. Thomas, famous railway
leader, and Ranmsay MacDonald. The
victory of Tillett, who won his seat
by a plurality of 20,000 votes against
u ' plurality of only 8,000 at the last
bye election, was notable. MacDonald,
who scored a victory in 'the Welsh,
district, had met with many political
reverses because of his pacifist views.
