E~ach team will, consist of three members and onle alternate, beside two other alternates who have not yet been appointed. 'phis was the third tryout through which, the suc- cessful candidates have passed. The first, held two weeks ago, was a ser- ies of three trygouts conducted by the three groups of women debaters, Ath-. ena, Portia, and the independents. Each group selected six candidate~s, forming a, squad of eighteen which was cut to the ten members from whomn the final teams were chosen. The subject of the debate, which will be -held December 112, is the joint construction by " the United States and' Canada of the proposed Saint 'Lawrence deep-water -way ca- nal. Discussions will be held simul- taneously in Ann Arbor, and Colum- bus, each college sending one team into the camp of the enemy and keep- ing one on home ground. Fund association drive to start Sun- dlay, Nov. 12, is the Public Health Nursing association. The nurses go into the homes of the poor-homnes where there is illness-and give Care, mnedicinie, and any other needed sup-j plies. But that is only a part of theirI duties. The nurses are graduates, ready ko do any form of social wel- fare work in which the health of thek public is 'concerned. Under supervi-j sion of a specialist from the Universi- t Hospital, they con~duct' child wel- fare clinics at the Community House and .the North Broadway Church. In the tuberculosis work, the, nurses aim, not only tosav the life, of the patient, but to" prevent the spread of thie disease.
