The University Chamber of Comn-
mer ce held a banquet 'and lfinal mexet-
ing of the school yea.r Thursday night
in Lane hal, Prof. Edmund E. Day,!
head of the economics department,
was the first speaker of the eve-
ning. lie emphasized the importance
of scholarship, stating that business
men pay more attention to the schol-
arship of the prospective emnployed
than college students believe.
Blair N. Swartz, 23, spoke on-the
history of the Vniversity Chamber and
its future aims. Mr. Harvey Camp-
bell, of the Detroit Board of Corn-,
mierce, spoke upon' the proper pur-
pose and 'activity of a chamber of
commerce, and gave instances of the
activities of the Detroit Board and
that of the United Stat e O ii~nicr of
Commerce.
