Instituted primarily for teaching'
purposes, the University hospital use,
all patients admiftted for instruction
purposes. Students are assigned pa-I
tients according to their several spe-I
cialities of they cases and they, under 1
the direction of a professor, diagnose,
take histories, and suggest lines of
treatment anld procedures for opera-
tions. Clinics are held daily during
the college year and summer session
for mledical, surgical, gynecological,
ophthamological, and venereal cases.
At such timies examinations are made,
prescriptions given, and surgical op-
erations performed in the presene of;
classes. The expense to patients is at
a minimum. They are charged only
Sfor their board, the use of unusual alp-
pliandes, special nursing, and mied-
icines. _ They work of the clinical teach-
ers is rendered g'atiuiously.

The fun'danmental object of t he R.
. T. C. is to provide training for qual-
i'vinsg selected students as reserve of-
fcers in the miilitary forces of the Un-
ited States. This aim is attained sine-
ultaneously with the students pursuit
of his 'general 'or professional studies,
and is accomplished with _he leant
practical interference with his other
work. In its work, the R. 0. T. C.,
strives to give its students a thorough
physical training, to instill a respect
for lawful authority, to teach the
,fundamentals of the military profes-
sion, leadership, and the special know'-
ledge required of them that they may!
serve efficiently in the various branch-
es of the military service.
The Michigan Athletic association
has the active' management of all ath-
letic enterprises connected with the
University subject at all times to the
SBoard in Control of Athletics and al-o
the following. rule4: All monies re-:
ec~ivod by the association shall immned-
iately be deposited in banks'; no with-
drawals shall be made except wvith
the sanction of certain officers, wvhicb
offcers constitute a committee author-
;zJed to regulate the ex:penditure of as-
