of students yesterday afternoon in the

India, fully 90 per cent are outcasts,
living in filth and ignorance in -some
750,000 villages far from the centers
o civilization, Mr. Swamidoss said.
"Debt, drink, dirt, and darkness are
the four demons which the Y. M. C. I
is striving to overcome, and we can
succeed only if we can train enough
men to teach these people Christian
principles. They are, not Christians,
they have merely been baptised."
Mr. Stanchfield endorsed Mr. Swam-
idoss' appeal, and said that hie hoped
to see Michigan once snore in the field
of active Y. M. C. A. service.

TALK ON BIO-GHEMISTRYI
Dr. Lawrence J. Henderson, profes-
sor of biological chemistry at Harvaro,
university and one of the leaders in
his particular field, will conclude a
series of three lectures on the gen-
eral topic of bio-chemistry at 4:15 o'-
clock this afternoon in room 214 of the
tNatural Science building. Dr. Hein-
derson is the second of eleven lectur-
ers who will be brought to the Uni-
versity under the auspices of the zoo-
logy department.1
While the lecture is of a technical
nature and intended primarily for spe.
vial students and members of the fac-I
ulties, it will be open to the general{
pulic. It will serve' as a continua-
tioni of the topic d.iscussed last night
by, Dr. Henderson, in the Natural
science a uditorium on "The Fitness of
Elnvironment".
