SIX MEETS ARE LISTED ON WRESTLING SCHEDULE TEAM ALREADY SCORES DECISIVE VICTORY OVER DETROIT JUNIOR COLLEGE Michigan's wrestling schedule calls for six meets this year and one of these has already taken place. One meet at Ann Arbor and one away from home are scheduled with M. A. C. and Detroit Y. M. C. A. and a meet will be held with the Detroit Athletic club at Detroit., Humble D. J. C. Detroit Junior College has already. been the opponent at Ann Arbor and even the most optimistic were more than satisfied by the showing the team made, for in each of the seven bouts Michigan grapplerscame out ahead. Defoe, gained a decision in the 115 pound class as did Halberg in the 125 pound weight. Gillard wrestling at 135 pounds threw his man in two min- utes and 40 seconds. Falls were also obtained by Campbell in five minutes, in the 158 pound class and by Meek- er, the heavyweight representative, who threw his man in 6 minutes and 50 seconds. Haller, the captain of the team, gained a decision over Schmidt, his D. J. C. opponent, in the lightheavy weight class. Clifford, the manager of the team, won by forfeit In. the 145 pound event for they had no man to meet him. As 8 points are given' for a fall and 5 counted. for a decioion the Michigan men scored 44 points to their opponent's none. Want More Heavyweights More men are desired to try out, particularly in the heavyweight class, 175 pounds or over, and any- one who is interested is urged to re- port. Each Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday anyone will be given a chance to wrestle with the man on the team at each weight and if able to down him will take his place on the team in the succeeding matches or until some one else overcomes him. Anyone who wants to wrestle for a position on the team can 6r- range for a time by seeing Clifford either at the wrestling room in the basement of the gymnasium or by calling him in the evening at 587-J. The new wrestling room in the basement is completed and all.bouts take place there. Coach Thorne is at the gymnasium three times a week and is not only coaching the team but is also helping beginners. The schedule is as follows: Feb. 18, Detroit Y. M. C. A. at Detroit; Feb. 25, M. A. C. at Ann Arbor; March 4, M. A. C. at Lansing; March 10, De- troit Athletic club at Detroit; March 18, Detroit Y. M. C. A. at Ann Arbor. 60 BASEBALL MEN WORKING OUT UNDER COACH FISHER (Continued from Page 4)' men now cut for the infield and out- field but it is yet too early to make any judgment of their respective abil- ities. The coach will not be able to select anything like a tentative line- up until he has a chance to watch his proteges work on the Ferry field dia- mond. There will' undoubtedly be some keen competition developed within a few days for none of the po- sitions are cinched and many of the new men will make the veterans step at a lively pace if they are to retain their coveted positions on the Var- sity. Batting practice in the cage will not begin. this week.
