Coach Yost's philosophy, the spirit
behind the 'fight' in Michigan teams,
formed the backbone of a talk that
he gave at the second freshman en-
gineer assembly, yesterday morning.
In the'quiet, penetrating manner that
he might use before the fall turnout,
Coach Yost developed the following
maxims, which he said he had used
with every team:
"You can't win today on what you
did last Saturday.
"Be aggressive; you' can't win a
game on your own side of the line
of scrimmage.
4"Do your part. The plays are plan-
ned for 11 men to execute, not 10.
"Make the play a personal matter;
leaving it to George gives George the
credit.
"The football field is the place to

Coach Yost showed that these max-
ims find application in college life
of every kind, and said, "To the man
who is interested in his work the time
seems too short to do all he wants to

don't' notice the work at all. You have
only four years; utilize every minute."

Commercial tests of first import-
ance have been completed by the ma-
terials testing laboratory of the En-
gineering college in connection with
the. development of a forged steel
wheel which the Jefferson Forge Pro-
ducts Co. of Detroit is soon to place
on the market. According to Prof. F.
N. Menefee, who, in connection with
Prof. W. E. Lay; conducted the tests,
experts in steel forging sad that the
wheel is a notable contribution to the
art of forging in the United States,.

In commemoration of Dante Aligh-
ieri, the famous Italian writer, the
University library announces as its.
first exhibit of the fall term a collec-
tion of prints and illustrations bear-
ing on his life and work. The exhibit
which is made on the six hundreth an-
niversary of Dante's death, will re-
main in the lower corridor cases dur-
ing the month of October.
The exhibit centers around a large
picture of Dante in the central case
on -the' south wall. In the cases on
either side are numerous copies of
portraits and' busts of the author.
Various editions of his "Divine
Comedy" and minor works are in the
cases to the left of the main entrance.
