Washington St Domestic O'Coats English Burberry Coats Interfraternity athletics will get un- der way on Monday with, the opening of the soccer tournament. Entries are being received in the Intramural of- fice, room 3, Press building, and by phone at 2268. Soccer was introduced as an intra- mural sport last year, when the great number of injuries which developed in the early games in football caused the cancellation of further matches. Competition for the annual interfra- ternity athletic cup promises to be keener this year than ever before, and .already leaders in last year's con- test have signed up for participation in the soccer tourhament. Houses which finished near the bottom of the list are preparing to fight theii way to the uuper ranks and, perhaps, to eventual victory. The soccer tournament will be fol- lowed by the usual contests 'which go to make up the interest of the intra- mural year, such as swimming, bask- etball, track, baseball, and tennis. As in the past, cups will be awarded in all tournaments, as well as for all- around standing at the end of the year. It is probable that the offices of the Intramural department will be moved to larger quarters at a later date, in order that the department may be di- rectly connected with the newly creat- ed department of health and hygiene, under whose jurisdiction intramural activities will be conducted. In the meanwhile, however, the offices -will remain at the old stand in room 3, Press building. This newcom- er was working out at Ferry field for a time, but owing to the new west stands covering tie pits, he was forced to work out at the pits adjoining Wat- erman gymnasium. And if he keeps on jumping |the way he has started out, they will have to enlarge thetm. Coach Farrell is very enthusiastic about his new man and says that he can jump 23 feet 3 inches with ease. The few men that are working out at the gymnasium so far have been mostly freshmen, although some of the Varsity candidates have also put in their appearance. Naylor, the pole vaulter, is improving his work. Arndt and Bowen, two prospective mnilers, are getting their exercise with the cross country team, and Weeks and Davis, sprint men, are also doing a little dist- ance work to aid them in rounding into form. is Attention!
