Major Willis Shippam, coast artillery
corps, who is in charge of the coast
artillery branch of the R. 0. T. C.,
outlines the efforts-of the department
in making war loss noisy, "The All-
Metal Airplane" heads an analysis of
that problemi. by William B. Stout,
presidetit of the Stout Engineering'
laboratories and one of the foremost
aeronautical experts in the country.

ply of gasoline would be all gone in
13 'years at the present rate of usage
is pointed-out in an article by Prof. E:

willf be held at 4 o'clock this
afternoon,. and at 9:30 o'clock Satur-
day morning in Sarah Caswell Angell-
hall. All members are requested to
be present and lines should be learn-
ed.
Wyvern society will meet at 7:30
o'clock tonight, at the Kappa Delta
house.
The cabaret party which had been
planned for Friday, afternoon has been
postponed because the Irish players
will be at the 'Whitney theater under
the auspices of the Ann Arbor branch
of the American. Association of Uni-
versity women. The entertainment is
being given for thie benefit of the build-
ing fund for the University of Mich-
igan league.
All girls who took pledges for the
University; of' Michian league during
the vacation shobuld report to Suzan
Fitch,,'24, at ;once, whether or not the
pledges have been paid.
The; Girls' Mandolin club picture for
the Michiganensian will be taken at
12:30 o'clock today at Dey's studio.
The meeting of' the' Girls' Mandolin
club scheduled for last evening was
postponed to 7:30 o'clock this evening
in Newberry hall.
There wiillbe a representative of the
Women's Athletic association. in the
parlors at Barbour gymnasium from
4:30 to 5:30 o'clock on Mondays and
Thursdays to" give information in re-
gard to the association to all girls de-
siring it. 'Memberships. will also be
granted at these times to those girls
presenting 100 honor points earned

bers of the committee, the chairmen
of the standing committees, and the
bpard of directors of the Women's
league will hold a Joint meeting; at 4
o'clock. tomorrow in Alumni Memorial

There will be a special. rehearsal of
the University Girls' Glee club at 4:30
o'clock this afternoon in Barbour gym-
nasium. Dues will be payable at this
time.
Members of the freshman spread
committee should be at Dey's studio
at 11 o'clock Saturday morning for
their Michiganensian picture. It is
requested thatf dark dresses be worn.
The schedule for the games to be
played 'this afternoon and evening in
the basketball color tournament is as.
follows: Red vs. purple, and yellow vs.
brown at 4:15 o'clock; green vs. gray,
and blue vs. black at 7:15 o'clock;
orange vs. white at 8 o'clock.

BISHOP TELLS LIBRARY 'CLUB
OF EUROPEAN BOOK SITUATION
More than 60 members of the Ann
Arbor Library club met at the Adelia
Cheever dormitory last Tuesday eve-
ning as the guests of Miss Henrietta
Scranton.
Librarian W. W. Bishop, of the Uni-
versity library, who recently returned
from Europe where he obtained a num-
ber of new books, spoke concerning
book buying conditions abroad. He
stated that many bargains may be had
at this time because of the poverty
stricken conditions of the foreign coun-
tries.
Community Fund Council to Meet
All the participating ,organizations
of the community fund association will
come together to present the function
of their organization at a general
council meeting to be held Monday,
Feb. 6. Fred R. Johnson, of Detroit,
will speak. All subscribers to the com-
nmunity fund are invited by the commit-
tee to be present.

SOPHOMORES TO BEGIN WORK
ON PLAY FOR COMING YEAR
Plans for furthering the work of the
preliminary Junior Girls' play commit-
tee of the sophomore class were dis-
cussed at a meeting of sophomore wo-
men yesterday afternoon in the par-
lor of Barbour gymnasium.
All sophomore women were urged to
co-operate with the committee by stat-
ing any way in which they could pos-
sibly take part in the Junior Girls'
play next year so that the preliminary
work could be finished .early
