C. Case, of the geology department. Professor Case spent the first of the summer on a vacation trip which included Lake Taahoe on the Pacific coast, Crater Lake in southern Ore- gon, Mt. Ranier, Glacier National Park, and the Yosemite. Later* in the summer he conducted an expedition from the museum of the Department of Geology, through, West Texas and New Mexico, search- ing for new fossil localities in the Triassic formation. The expedition travelled more than 2000 miles in an automobile, taking in both sides of the Staked Plains. Aside from a few minor mishaps, nothing of a particu- larly harrowing nature occurred, Dr. Case assures us. Although the search, for localities was not entirely suc- cessful, not many having been found, the expedition is said to be more than rewarded, for a practically perfect skull of a Phytosaus, an extinct Ti- assic reptile, was found. The skull is three feet long, with the lower jaw. The expedition also secured many other bones of various Triassic ani- mals. In the Tertiary deposits in Tule Doctor Case also announces that the Museum is now mounting a skele- ton of the new order of reptiles which was found in the Triassic locality several years ago and announced last year. The bones have been cleaned and the skeletons are in the process of being mounted, so that they will in the very near future be on exhi- bition. This is the only specimen of its kind in the world. Moreover, there is now on exhibition in the Museum the skull of a giant Triassic Amphi- bian, which is unique in that it has been generally acknowledged to be the best skull of this kind in existence.
