1922 THE MICHIGAN DAILY t Virown Discusses Chemical Control Prof. G. G. Brown, of the chemical engineering department, discusses, in the current issue of The Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemis- try, the possibilities of chemical con- trol of the combustion of gasoline in automobile engines. In the course of his investigation, Professor Brown built a carburetor, automatic and positive in action, de- signed on an exact chemical basis to deliver a definite amount of gasoline and air for each condition of temper- ature and load. The device is said to cause only a small amount of gasoline to be consumed when there is not much demand on the engine. "By the application of the princi- ples of chemical control developed above," Professor Brown concludes his article, "the miles per gallon have been invariably increased from 25 to over 100 per cent over that previously contained." of the Y.
