The Wolverine quintet opened its vacation jaunt by downing the fast University of Cincinnati five 25 to 18 on the Cincinnati floor. Cin- cinnati holds victories over Ohio State, Yale and other leading teams of the country, and the Wolverines are the first university aggregation to down them. Case Scientific school was the next victom of Mather's attack. The Scientists put up a stiff battle but were unable to stop Ely, Miller, and Rea and took the small end of a 29 to 20 count. Tech Falls Twice Carnegie Tech lost both of its en- gagements at Waterman gymnasium. Michigan took the first contest 36 to 17 and in the second game downed the Easterners 48 to 22. Michigan's play in the second game with Carnegie fairly sparkled with class and in the 10 minutes the invaders were over- whelmed yvith a fusilade of baskets which netted the Wolverines one of the highest scores a Michigan court five has ever run up against any op- ponent. Coach Mather is pleased over the showing his men made and labels their work as highly satisfactory al- though he refuses to make any predic- tions as to how his team will play in the Cbnference circle. Clncy and Case Lose Michigan opened the games with Cincinnati and Case with Miller and Reason at forwards, Ely at center, and Caytain Rea and Birks at the guards. In the games with Carnegie Tech Coach Mather was forced to shift the versatile Michigan captain to a for- ward position in the absence of Mil- ler, who is recovering from an opera- tion on his throat. Cappon took Rea's place at running guard during these two latter engagements and his work on the defense compared 'favorably with Rea's. Coach Mather wil probably use the same lineup againt M. A. C. Friday that he used against Carnegie. Miller is expected to be in condition for the Chicago clash next Monday.
