UNIVERSITY ICE CREAM IS JUST AS NOURISHING AND DELICIOUS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AS IT IS IN SUMMER. IT KEEPS YOU IN GOOD HEALTH THE YEAR 'ROUND BASKETBALL ULES UNDERGOCHANGES~ New Interpretations Affect Question of Time Out, Dribbling, and Substitutions COACHES CANNOT TALK TO OFFICIALS AFTER WHISTLE Big Ten basketball coaches and of- ficials made two important new in- terpretations of Conference court rules at the rules and regulations ses- sion held in Chicago. Rule on Time Out The first will prevent a team from calling time out when the opposing team, in the lead, is slowing up the game by refusing to bring the ball down the floor for an attempt at the basket. Heretofore, the defending teams would call time out instead of tryiIig to get in possession of the ball, thereby securing an even chane of getting the ball on the jump when t was put back into play. The officials held that this was unfair to the team holding the ball. The other interpretation is that, in dribbling, a player can take but one step. The player may pivot as much as he pleases, so long as he keeps one foot on the floor and does not touch the floor with his other foot more han once. Now a player may make a complete circle and take one step in starting a dribble. This will call for additional vigilance on the part of the guards. Bank Out of Bounds Minor interpretations rule that the edges of th, bank, or the supports of he bank are out of bounds, that a team may hae two full minutes or substituting a player for an injured man without being charged with time out, and that after a game\ begins there can be no discussions betweer coachesor representatives of a team and the officials.
