R. 0. T. C. BAND PERSONNEL
IS 28 AT FIRST REHEARSAL
Twenty-six members of the recently
organized R. O. T. C. band met at 7
o'clock Thursday night in the R. O.
T. C. building for their first rehearsal.
Capt. Wilfred Wilson, director of the
University band, who is supervising
the work of the R. 0. T. C. band, said:
"I am really surprised at the display
of good material here, and I firmly
believe that we can produce en excel-
lent band."
The band is noticeably weak in bass
instruments, such as tubas and helic-
ons, but in regard to cornets, trom-
bones, saxophones, and drums it is
fairly well balanced. Major Robert
Arthur, professor of military science.
stated that he has requisitioned the
government for 28 more instruments
to take care of the rest of the 50 men
who have enrolled.
No drum-major has yet been select-
ed, but Major Arthur stated that a call
for tryouts for that position will be
issued shortly.
