'ATE AND WILLIAM STREETS Yost To Arrange Football Sche~dule At Heeting Of Big Ten Heads "There will be no Eastern game on our schedule for next year," Coach Yost said yesterday. "We have four of the hardestegames in the country on our schedule now and we can't stand another big game as long as Ohio State, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota play Michigan. Another reason is that we could not get an Eastern game now. There are no big Eastern schools who could fit in our schedule at present. It is physically impossible for a Michigan team to keep in condition and play more than four hard games. We have four out of five of the best teams in the Con- ference now. In the lineup. First Court Battle of Season Closed to Public; Albion Also Scheduled LOSS OF VETERANS SEVERE BLOW TO TITLE PROSPECTS; Varsity basketball candidates are putting in some goad licks this week l in preparation for the game against Western State Normal on the 10th of; this month. With the aggregation cut to its present size of 25 Coach Mather has been able to get more work out of his men and the' squad is begin- ning to look more like a real bunch of Conference calibre. In order to give the Wolverines out- side scrimmage Ypsilanti Normal school will send its team here on Mon- day night for a practice game. This game will be for the benefit of the team only and will not be open to the public. Mather wants to get a line on what his men can do in action and is taking this chance to become fa- miliar with their playing. The ol- lowing week will see another prac- tice game against Albion. those who are still keeping under the eye of the coach are several football men including Cappon, Roby, Kipke, Uteritz and Swan. Three men, Miller, Reason and Whitlock, are showing up well for the forward positions and the opening game is sure to see these places held by two of these men. Other forwards on the squad are Rice, Roth, Uteritz, McGregor, Pearman, Gregory, and Pasco. For the center position there are only two aspirants, Ely and McWood, Both men are from the 1924 fresh- man team and are showing well. It is almost a toss-up which of these men will get the call. Captain Rae is at his old place at running guard and at the pace he is travelling it will take an exceptional- ly good man to wrest the position from him. Other men playing this posi- tion are Paper, White, Hoyt, i,.pman, and Kipke. Quite a battle is on for the run- ning mate to Rae between Cappon, Burke and Peare with the odds possi- bly favoring i ppyr. Coach Yost hopes to schedule either Wisconsin or Illinois for the Saturday preceding the Gopher game in order that Homecoming will be late in the season. The Varsity mentor is not certain yet whether or not the Wolverines will play four or five Conference games next year. If another Big Ten team is taken on it will be one of the lesser elevens. Coach Yost pointed out that the Eastern elevens seldom played as many as four important games while Yale, Princeton, and Harvard have in the past played but two games that count in" the season's recordrof suc- cess or failure. In the other games they play with a flock of substitutes REFERRES WANTED Senior medics adopted the honor sys- tem in 1910. The juniors followed one year later. -x Ladies!
