Although this will be only a local affair, it is important in that it will be the first time that Michigan tank men will com- pete\ this year. The squad has been working hard for the past month and all the men are in good shape. Coach Drulard declared that he would enter men in only a few special events. Gow, the freshman star, will not be seen in action as he was called home last week because of the illness of his father. Hurst CAPPON, GOEBEL, UTERITZ TO RETURN NEXT SEASON Michigan fared well in Eckersall's All-Conference selections. The Wol- verines placed nearly as many men on the three mythical elevens as did any other of the strong Big Ten teams, The champion Hawkeyes placed six men, as also did the Badgers, while Michigan, Chicago and Ohio each were awarded five places on the honorary teams. Illinois, who had an off sea- son, placed. three men, while Minne- sota, Indiana and Purdue each had a player selected on the third eleven. Iowa Places Her Star Trio On the first team Iowa was given Devine, Locke and Slater. This trio of stars who were largely responsible for the -Hawkeyes' success were gen- erally conceded to be the best men in the middle west. Devine and Slat- er undoubtedly will make strong bids for All-American honors. Michigan, Ohio State and Chicago were the schools to be honored with two places on the first eleven, whil'e Illinois and Wisconsin were each allotted one place. Peden of Illinois, Elliott of Wisconsin and Locke of Iowa are the only first team men who have not sung their swan song on* the Conference gridiron. Vick and Dunne Honored Vick and "Duke" Dunne, Michigan's players on the first eleven, have play- ed their last game for the Maize and Blue. Both Dunne and x Vick have played four years on Yost's teams and have been rated among the best in the West during their years of com- petition. Vick is not a newcomer on All-Conference teams as Ernie made Eckersall's first team in 1918 when he' wqas playing his first year under Yost as freshman. "Duke" Dunne al- so played his first year on the 1918 war time eleven but at an end posi- tion. It was in 1918 that the Yostmen were undefeated. Vick has been one of the great outstanding stars of thea game this year and should make- a strong bid for All-American honors along with Slater, McGuire and Au- brey Devine. "Duke" Dunne playedJ a whale of game all year despite con- tinued injuries. It was "Duke's" fight that was greatly in evidence during the Wisconsin game which, inciden- tally, was one of the classic battles in the Conference this year. "Duke" has "Duke" Dunne and "Ernie" Tick Awarded Berths, on First Team Are been arversatile player, having played two yers at end and two at guard. Cappon Deserving Cappon's presence in the backfield of the second team is a place justly awarded. Cappon is probably the most versatile man in the Conference. Whenever Coach Yost is hard pressed for a player to fill a vacancy he has been able to rely on Cappon to adapt himself to the style of play necessary for the position. Cappon is a big fel- low, a hard fighter and has never been outplayed in his two years on the Varsity by an opposing player, al- though he has appeared in the roles of end, tackle and halfback. Last year he was placed on the second All-Con- ference team at end. Naturally a back- field man Cappon, because of his ver- satility, was not played in his regular position at the beginning of the sea- son because of the large number of backfield men and the scarcity of line- men. With Kipke's injury in the Ohio game prospects for the Illinois battle began to glimmer, but Cappon's play' ing at Urbana proved to be a revela- tion to the delegation of rooters who accompanied the team. He tore through the Orange and Blue line un- til Michigan was in striking distance and Steketee's toe sent the oval be- tween the bars for a victory. In the following games Cappon more than justified the "eputation which he gain- ed at Illinois. Cappon is the greatest plunger in the Conference and with Ernie Vick to open holes for him he literally tore the opposing lines into shreds. Eckersall said that there was little to choose between Cappon and the backs on the first team, which is his acknowledgment of "appe's" worth. Utertz Has Great Possibilities Uteritz' selection to pilot the third team was pleasing to all Wolverine followers. The little pilot who took over the running of the team after Bank's injury made a favorable im- pression in every contest and was probably at the height of his game IA the final battle with Minnesota when he scored two touchdowns. Uteritz is a sophomore this year and will have two more years on Wolverine teams. Kipke's injury probably cost him a chance to make the mythical elevens as Eckerall says that "Kip" should be a terror next season if he is un hampered by injuries. Goebel Thought to Be Underrated Goebel, the fifth Wolverine to be selected, was placed on the third team. Many others had placed Goebel on the first or second elevens. How- ever, with the ends on both the first and second elevens graduating this year he should be, along with Kirk, the best end in the Conference next season. Goebel was a powerful de- fensive flank man and a tower of strength to Michigan. "School for Scandal"-shows society within.-Adv. Enroll now "School for Scandal."- Adv.
