COACH THORNE TO
TRAIN WRESTLERS
Wrestling enthusiasts literally
crowded the wrestling room Thursday
when Clifford Thorne, the new coach,
made his first appearance on the cam-
pus. His appearance had been her-
alded for some time, and if the man-
ner in which the wrestlers turned out
to greet him can be taken as an indi-
cation of enthusiasm, wrestling will
be one of the greatest indoor sports
at Michigan this year. Coach Thorne
worked out with several of the men
and made a particularly favorable im-
pression. He is a past master of the
art of wrestling, having been in the
game for 15 years, and wrestled with
the greatest men in the game including
such wrestlers as Frank Gotch, Stan-
laus Zbysko and others of like prom-
inence. His next. appearance, how-
ever, will not, be until Dec. 1, when
coaching will begin in earnest. He
favors a plan whereby the men will
be divided into classes according to
their wrestling exp'erience. It is for
this purpose that a meeting for al
men interested in wrestling will be
held at 5 o'clock next Tuesday in
Waterman gymnasium.
