Sargent, Jr.) Ferry Field, Nov. 19.-Michigan scored her second Conference vic- tory this afternoon when she de- feated the Minnesota eleven, and retained possession of the famous "Little Brown Jug." The battle, witnessed under leaden skies by a crowd of more than 30,000 people, was bitterly contested throughout. The ag- gressive play of the Wolverines proved too much for the Gophers, however. Spectators caught three glimpses of the sun as they slowly filled the stands. The Minnesota team was the1 first to arrive on the rain-soaked field at 1:40 o'clock. It was shortly fol- lowed by the Michigan team at 1:45 o'clock. The Varsity band marched1 onto Ferry Field playing "The Vic-1 tors." In memory of the Michigan dead who died in the World war, the bandC played "The Star-Spangled Banner"l as the flag was raised. Immediately1 following the memorial tablet to the Michigan athletes who died in the World war was unveiled. A crowd of old "M" men gathered around the' tablet for the ceremony. Taps was played with the flag at half-mast. .z Both teams left the field for the# club house for final instructions be-1 fore the game.f Although the three days' rain has; left the field in very bad condition, the only places that are particularly3 noticeable are around the kick-off1 hound. The Minnesota eleven re-) turned to the field at 1:55 o'clock and went through a snappy signal prac- tice. No shifts were employed by the; Gophers in this drill.l The stands loudly acclaimed the Michigan Varsity when it returned to the field at 1:58 o'clock for a short signal practice.1 FIRST QUARTER Captain Teberg won the toss and{ HOW THEY LINED UP TODAY.
