Illinois followed shortly after. The Michigan band marched on the field playing "The Victors." FIRST QUARTER Michigan defended the south goal. Mohr of Illinois kicked off to Roby, who ran ball from 10 to 25-yard line. I Cappon went through right tackle for 4 yards. Steketee punted to Walquist on his 35-yard line. SPECIAL TRAIN GETS INTO URBANA ON TIME Michigan Students Parade Streets and Serenade Varsity; Get Royal Reception By Wallace F. Elliott, (Special Correspondent, The Daily) Urbana, Ill., Oct. 29.-(11:00 A. M.) -Twelve hours of continuous rain came to a stop at 7 o'clock this morn- ing, leaving the Illinois field a slough of mud. The sky intermittently threatens a renewal of the downpour, and again promises clear weather for the game. The special train with its 400 cheer- ing Michigan students pulled into the city on time, and the band with the Wolverine delegation marching be- hind moved through the streets of Champaign. The procession halted before the Inman hotel and serenaded the Varsity. Captain Dunne appeared in the doorway and was given a storm of cheers as he entered a taxi. The dining room of the Inman was the scene of a Michigan raid. The room resounded with "Varsity," "Sam- uel Hall," and other favorite Michigan songs, while an occasional locomotive could be heard blocks away. Decorations abound throughout Champaign and Urbana, the Maize and Blue mingling with the Orange and Blue of the Illini. Illinois is giving her opponents a royal welcome. WHEELER APPEARS IN TOMORROW'S FACULTY CONCERT 'illiam Wheeler, head of the voice department of the School of Music, and Mrs. George B. Rhead of the piano department will give the second con- cert in the faculty series at 4:15 o'clock tomorrow in Hill auditorium. Mrs. Rhead has chosen two inter- i esting groups, while Mr. Wheeler will sing selections representing composi- tions from several French writers and five songs by Greig. J U N I O R SOCIETY JOINS SIGMA XI Codification of the by-laws and the incorporation of several new ones was accomplished at a meeting of Sigma Xi, national honorary scieptific society held at 5 o'clock yesterday in room 217, Natural Science building. One of the most important of the new by-laws provides for the incor- poration or affiliation of other scien- tific organizations into Sigma Xi. The first step toivard making Sigma Xi a clearing house for all such societies was made v.hen affiliation by the Jun- ior Research club was completed at this meeting.
