Joe Maddoek Here AND PERMIT
Joe Maddock, '04, one of the great-
est players who ever stepped on a
western gridiron,'has volunteered his
services and will pay special atten-
tion to the linemen In an effort to de- I
velop a pair , of tackle. Maddock
played tackle on the 1902 and 1903
squads and was chosen by Yost on his
all time all Michigan eleven. Angus
Goetz, '22M, captain of the Varsity in
1919 and 1920, has also volunteered
to help Yost with the tackle prob-
lem and with four years of Varsity
experience at this position behind him
should prove invaluable. Elton E.
Wieman, '21, a man with three years -
experience on the Varsity at tackle
and fullback, has also been added to
the staff and will work with the line
candidates. Tad was captan-elect in
1918 but went into the service before
the season began and did not return *°.A .
until last year.
Pratt Will Return
A. J. Sturgenegger, former Univer-
sity of Nebraska star, has returned
and will devote his attention to the
ends and backs. He played at end
during his time in the game and is a Carl Laemmte
master of football science and tac-
tics. Derril Pratt, who resigned from Prserd+s
the coaching staff last spring, has
notified the athletic office that he will
return and offer any assistance pos-
sible during the coming campaign.
Pratt had charge of the Reserves last
year but it is probable that he will
be changed to the Varsity when he
returns at the close of the American
league season. Ray Fisher will take
care of the Reserves as soon as ref-
lar practice commences and E. J.
Mather' will work with the All-fresh IN
candidates as he has. in the past.
Archie Hahn is ministering to the
physical ailments of the squad as-
sisted by Billy Fallon.
