It seems to me, and to all those with
whom I have spoken about the matter,
that any freshman who refuses to wear
a pot or toque has no place in our Un-
iversity. That anyone should even
De think up excuses for not wearing the
freshman headgear is un-Michigan. I
am a freshman and I wear my pot at
all times, not because I am afraid of
,en the underclass conduct committee, nor
that I am proud af it, but because at
71atoes some future time 1 am convinced that
I will be proud of ever having the
p Short chance to appear in a gray toque.
A little time ago the country was
patting itself on the back because Em-
ma Goldman and other reds were de-
ported because they refused to live up
gthat gOe8 to American traditions and tried to put
:e dinner all authority to one side. .Now, when
almost the same thing happens here
the University hesitates. Kick him out
M. and good riddance. Any right minded
1.00 freshman should be ashamed to be seen
with a person who considers his own
selfish fancies before the good of the
University.
