Since many of the men who were'
entered in the interfraternity boxing
tournament were not in proper condi-
tion to withstand the strain properly,
E. D. Mitchell, director of intramural
athletics, announced the discontinu-
ance of the tourney WednesdAy.
The first round of bouts in the
tourney was held Tuesday evening un-
der the close supervision of Coach
Sullivan, From the manner in whichl
many of' the boxers performed, they
were not in fit condition to warrant
further bouts being arranged and
consequently, the intramural office
was led to make this decision.
Class boxing, on the otherthand, has
proved to be a success, as the candi-
dates who took part in' this tourna-
ment were men who were close fol-
lowers of this sport and had been in'
practice throughout the winter sea-
son.

to be included, but just who the re-
maining three pitchers will be is at
present highly problematical. None
of the moundsmen have gone the en-
tire nine rounds as yet, but every one
of the six pitchers, taken on the trip,
will be put through rigorous work on
the training trip for the Wolverines
I will be called upon to play10 games
in the brief period of nine days.
Final Selection This Week
Upon the showing made by the men
during the coming week depends the
final selection for the trip. Sixteen
men will probably make up the invad-
ing squad taken by Michigan. This
number will mean .that one utility
man, five extra pitchers and an extra
received, in addition to the regular
nine will form Fisher's squad. Michi-
gan is not alone in making the South-
ern trip as Illinois and Wisconsin are
planning to take training trips' this
spring also and nines representing the
Badgers, Illini and Wolveriens will
tour the Southern states at the same
time. This coincidence Is made pos-
sible this year as the Spring recess
in all' three of these institutions will
open April 8..
In the interfraternity wrestling
tournament, the Saturday afternoon
program as announced Thursday will
be: Phi Delta Theta vs. Phi Sigma
Kappa to determine which team shall
be entered in the semi-finals of the
main round of bouts on Monday night.,
This event will start at 2 o'clock and
at 2:30 o'clock, the.Theta Chi wrestl-
era meet the Phi Qamma Delta in the
consolation round,
In the handball tournament, Phi
Delta Theta defeated the Sigma, Nu
team, 2-0; Cygnus defeated Kappa Beta
Psi, 2-1. These two winners will ar-
range a game, the winner of which
shall be entered in the semi-final
event. The winners of the Phi Gamma
Delta vs. Alpha Chi.Rho and Kappa
Nu vs. Chi Psi matches will also ar-
range a game to determine the other
team in the semi-finals. These games
must be played off by Monday after-
noon at 5 o'clock.
