Practice go far has consisted mere-
ly of the loosening up of muscles and
of getting back into the swing of a
racket. This kind of workout will
continue for several weeks so that all
men may once more become accustom-
ed to the feel of the game. Coach Wes-
brook is especially desirous that all
candidates get in as much of this pre-
liminary practice as possible. Actual
competition for places on the team will
not commence much before vacation,.
Opportunities to make the team are
better this year than ever before as
only two men of last year's team, Cap-
tamn Merkel and Reindel, are available.
Players of any ability at all will
stand a good chance and the coach
is anxious to have all tennis men re-

rWENTY-FOUR HOUR SERVICE
Letringg Done In Our Store

Folliwug a light workout in most
events, Coach Archie Hahn Thursday
afternoon excused his freshman track
proteges from. further duty until Sat
urday afternoon at 3 o'clock. At that
time, Michigan's yearlings will con-
pete in a dualtelegraphic track meet
with the 1925 tracksters of the Univer-
sity of Illinois. This meet will be the
first of its kind ever held at Mich-
igan and great interest Is being shown
in the event. Although the results o
the meet winl not be known until 6
o'clock Saturday evening, oficials in
charge expect a goodly sized audience
on hand to watch the youngsters per-
form.
According to the conditions of the
meet, each school will be allowed to
enter as many men in each event as
the respective coach sees fit. In ac
cordance with such ruling, ahn said
Thursday' that he had selectd n-
tries in only three out of the scheduled
11 events. In these events the follow-
Ing men have been selected to run:
50!yard dash-Hubbard, Wlttman, Ne-R
ville, Hulse, and Knapp. Low hurdles
-Hubbard, Haggarty, Laurence and
Newhall. High hurdles- Haggarty,
Hubbard, Barth, and Anderson. In the
quarter, half, and one mile events, it
is, expected that all men who have
been practicing with the team will he
allowed to participate. / No relay race
will be run off.,
Shuourd Looks Strong
Hubb'ard will, In all probability, be
Michigan's high scorer. He will he
entered in both hurdle events, the 50-
yard dash, and the broad Jump. In
the latter, it I. expected, he will out
distance Sweeney of Illinois, by at
least two feet, In a trial jump a few
days ago, Hubbard covered 24 feet; 6
3-4 inches, whereas in the freshman
meet between Illinois and Wisconsin a
few weeks ago, Sweeney was the sen-
sation of the affair when he jumped 21
feet, 7 1-2 inches. hubbard is press-
ed very closely by Wlttman for first
place in the 50-yard run, both of these
men having coVered the distance in 5
3-5 seconds. Inasmuch as Wisconsin
copped the 50 yard dash from Illinois
in their meet at slower time -than
either of these Wolverines run it, a
win is looked for in this event also.
Hubbard is the best Michigan bet In
the hurdles events although -both
Haggarty and Laurence are exception-
ally good in both high and low hurdle
events. Haggarty took first place In
both events in the interfraternity in-
door track meet last Tuesday night.
