Guelph, (nt., 1058-3 Will Organize European Tours Four student tours will be conducted' this summer to Europe by Internatioi- al Students' Tours, organized under the auspices of the Institute of In- ternational Education in New York. Plans of travel now being completed show that the itinerary will major in Great Britain, France, Italy, and the Scandinavian countries. Provision has been made with the governments and universities of the countries to be visited for the extension of official pa- tronage as well as unusual courtesies. An exceptional feature of the tours is that their purpose is merely for travel and not for attendance at sum- mer, courses of foreign universities'. Announcement of dates for the start and finish of the tours have not been announced but it is thought the trips will occupy a period of two months. Their success is precluded by last year's tour of Italy When in every city the American students were received with cordiality.; THE UNIVERSITY'S COMMON HEALTH "Preventing Disease" More and more" disease is being curedrbefore it beginssTyphus, which drove Napoleon from Moscow and destroyed his army, is now being wiped out by soap and hot water. Smallpox, once classed with measles as a deadly but inevitable child's dis- ease, is being ended with tiny tubes of vaccine. Lead poisoning in pot- teries is being markedly checked by the workmen eating outside their workrooms and washing the lead glaze off their hands before eating at all. Children by thousands are being saved from slow starvation by atten- tion to their teeth, which enables them to eat and to digest their food. Wherever modern public health work is in progress, lives are longer and safer than they formerly were. The hustler is the chap who has his shoes resoled oftener than he has his pants reseated.
