Newberry Shines
Over in front of Newberry residence
hangs a big blue and yellow shoe, and
on the campus today 22 sophomore wo-
men are wearing sm4l shoe badges.
It isn't a sh'oe sale or a new hiking
club--merely the launching of the big
campaign of the Newberry Shoe Shin-
ing parlor, a campaign to enlist the
co-operation of all Michigan women
in this project for increasing the cam-
paign fund of the Michigan league.
Posters have been placed in 9onspic-
' ous places on campus, letters have
been sent to all women's houses, and
shine tickets will follow in a few days
for, all women to buy.
"From the ground up for the Wo-
men's building" is the slogan-so all
women will know what all this "shoe
business" is about.

PUBLICITY, PERSONNEL, FIELD,
CONFERENCE, BUSINESS
DISCUSSED
At the joint meeting of the Y. W. C.
A. cabinet and advisory board which
was held Wednesday afternoon, Miss
Marie L'Hommedieu, finance secretary
of central field, presented an outline
of the national finance program.
Miss L'Hommedieu is talking to the
various associations in the field to ac-
quaint them with the work which is
being done by the nationalaassociation
and to prepare them to vote inellig-
ently on national questions.
The principal divisions of expendi-
ture which were outlined in the na-
tional budget were general administra-
tion, research and education, publicity
personnel, finance, field, business, for-
eign administration, and general for-
eign work.
Miss L'Hommedieu gave details
about some phases of the Y. W. C. A.
work about which the general public
and even members of some local asso-
ciations are ignorant. Among these
are the work done by the Hollywood
Studio club for young girls entering
the film world, help given to tubercular
girls at Alberquerque, many instances
of emergency relief such as that given
during the flood at Pueblo, assistance
given to foreign girls in American
ports, of which work there were 90,-
000 cases last year, and the activities
of the 83 foreign centers.

TIME EXTENDED
IN PIN CONTEST
\Time extension has been granted
to those who wish to subniit drawings

University women who wish to en-
ter this contest will find a complete
set of rules posted on the bulletin
boards in Uniyersity hall, Newberry
hall, the Library, and Barbour gymnas-
ium. The prize to the winner is a life
