It nays.-AdY- Unin To Promote' Il iardTourney Entries are now being turned in for the annual three cushion billiard tournament at the Union to decide the championship of the campus. The tournament will start as soon as there ,ae ten or more entries. The entries were to be closed on March 4, but as there were only six entries at this ,time, the time will be lengthened. This tournament was successful last- year, much interest being shown. This year there is not as much interest be- ing spown because a handicap is A1t given as it was last year. It was changed this year as it is impossible to determine a fair handicap in three cushion billiards. Under the new way it is fairer and the best man can not help winning.. Prizes of cups or med- als will be given to the winners. Each entry costs but one dollar. The draw- ing will be nonpartial. Two of the men who have entered that .are known to be quite good are A. J. Berst, '23E and Buckley Rob- bins, '23. Robbins, won the three cushion tournament two years ago andi was runner-up last year. Later in the year there is to be an' interfraternity tournanent. State St., Chicago - With only three more games remain- ing on the conference basketballt schedule the final standing of the- teams is practically set. First place is assured and second place is the po- sition around which most interest ist centered. Purdue, favored by an easy schedule, although they did have a good team, is the championi but just who is runer up is not deqided as yet.' Three teams have.a-'.clfance for this, position, Michigan, Illinois, and Wis-' consin, and a hot fight should result - in the week's games. Illinois-Purdue Game Tonight Purdue meetsi Illinois tonight at Lafayette in a game that decides the Illini chances for second place. It will make no difference with the final standing of the leaders for even if they lose they are still assured of the championship. The Boilermakers are favored to win for they are on their home floor land theSuckers are best in their own gymnasium. Illinois did the trick once at Urbana and it is possible that they can do so again particularly since they are fighting for the second place, but the chances 'are against it. If they lose they will fin- ish in the fourth position or else 'in a tie for third depending on the results of the Chicago-Wisconsin games. If Chicago wins both or the two teams divide the series there will be a tie for third, while if Wisconsin wins both and Illinois loses they will land in fourth 'lace. Chicago Meets RaAgers Twice The two games between Chicago and Wisconsin take place one on Wednes- day at Madison andthe other at Chi- cago on Saturday. The results of these games not only affect the Illi- nois standing but also the position of Wisconsin. If they win both they will be in sepond place tied with Michigan, providing Michigan defeated North- western, which is probable. If they lose one and Michigan comes through they will by in in third place. How- ever, if Chicago wins both they will pass Wisconsin. This last does -not seem probable for Wisconsin has a shade the edge over the Maroon and is certain to take at least one of the games. Whether they can get them both is doubtful altiough tainly possible. Northwestern Wins Celh Indiana *and Northwestei cure in ninth and 'tenth cannot be dislodged for t] tile is completed and the any other games have n their standings. The high scoring team son is Illinois for they b 312 points alreatdy and no can possibly displace them. sults up to yesterday were Ohio 266, Michigan 259, 256, Iowa 229, Girdue 226, 224, Northwestern 205, Chi and Indiana 170.
