AT DETROIT MEETING
That greater Michigan will result
from the building of the University of
Michigan League was brought out by
President Marion L. Burton in hisl
address to the Michigan alumnae of
Detroit, at the luncheon which they
gave last Saturday at the Hotel Statler.
In, his epeech, President Burton
paid a tribute to Dean Myra B. Jordan.
for her 20 years of untiring service
to University women.
IAfter the luncheon Ann Noble, '20,
led the alumnae in the singing of
Michigan songs. The addresses of all
the alumnae present were taken, so
that the work of the Alumnae council
might be carried on more efficiently.

"I have been wondering and won-
dering how I was going to scrape to-
gether the money to pay the first in-
stallment on my League life member-
ship. One of the girls at our house
is making cute little place cards and
selling them to earn her $10. Not
having any particular talent, I was
in despair. However, being a true
Michigan woman, I was resolved that
I would never go through the sum-
mer without taking out my member-
ship. One cold morning last week I
got up real early to study and hap-
pened to go into one of the girls'
rooms. Just through courtesy to her,
I closed her window and turned on the
heat. That gave me my inspiration.
There were many girls in the house
who were willing to pay me a few
cents a day if I would do this for
them every morning, so I made a con-
tract with them, and now my $10 is
assured to me."
L. H. P.
"I don't know of any particularway
to) earn money, but I have a birthday
coming next month and I know that
my sister will give me at least $10
then, so I have asked her to make the
check out to the Women's league. This
will pay for my first installment, and
next summer people will not have, to
ask me what school I attend. They
will know that I am a member of the
University of Michigan League."
C.O. E.
"Why does everyone say, 'I must
earn money to pay my League mem-
bership fee?' I know of girls who
could save it in a very short time ONE WEEK MORE
