HEAVIES FEATURE MAT TOURNAMENT ANN ARBOR MEETS FLINT HERE TONIGHT Ann Arbor and Flint basketball teams play at 7:30 o'clock tonight in Water- man gymnasium. Flint, having won 12 victories without a defeat, is a claimant of the state title. The Ann Arbor five got off to a poor start due to the loss of two star players, but with these men back in the game Ann Arbor has effected a comeback and won the last five games. Both teams are fast and clever and a real battle is expected. Flint has a very strong offensive team and ex- pects to get by Ann Arbor's strong defense. As a large crowd is expect- ed the game will be staged at Water- .an gymnasium instead of the high school court. The game promises to be a fast snappy battle. Intramural Items INTEREST SHOWN IN BILLIARD GAMES Much interest is being shown in the class B billiard tournament which is in progress at the Union under the direction of Al Taylor. The ability of all the entrants is about the same and some close matches have been the result. Griffith is leading at the pre- sent time, having won five games and lost one. One of the leading factors of Griffith's game is his steadiness, this coolness having won at least three of his matches when he was compelled3 to come from behind to win. Byrnes is in second place, with three won and one lost., Among those who are showing good form in the tourn- ament is Joe Karpus, of basketball fame. Although he has lost three games, they have all been by hard luck. After the present tournament is over Taylor plans to run an inter- fraternity tournament. This will be open to all fraternities on the campus, and will of course bring forth consid- erable rivalry among the billiard en- thusiasts. Taylor is still giving his talks three days a week, at 4 o'clock. Nine Letters Given at Purdue Nine members of the Purdue Varsity basketball squad have been awarded letters in recognition of their services in the past season.
