Varsity Welcomed
.#y Large Crowd
Cheering the victorious basgetball
team, more than 1,500 students showed
their enthusiasm for the players and
coach by an assembly Tuesday after-
noon at the Michigan Central station
when the train arrived, carrying the
team that tied for first honors in the
Conference by victories over Ohio
State and Illinois.
The train pulled in at 5 o'clock
amidst cheering and the "Victors"
played by the varsity band. The
cheering continued incessantly until
the train had left the station, when'
the students fell in to the rear of the
band and escorted the team to the
campus.
The squad was composed of 12 men,
including Coach Mather, Boyd H. Lo-
gan, '21, manager, and Trainer Hahn.
Yells were led by Albert O. Cuthbert,
'21E, varsity cheer leader, at the sta-
tion and as the procession marched to
the campus.
INTRODUCE BILLS
TO CENSOR MOVIES
Lansing, March 9-Three bills to
provide censorship of motion picture
films in Michigan havp been intro-
duced in the current session of the
legislature and it is doubtful whether
any other proposed legislation has
created such outspoken opposition
and support.
The latest bill ,to be introduced was
given to the house by Rep. Stromh, of
Grand Rapids. It was intended as a
substitute for two previous bills, one
of which had been introduced in the
house and the other in the senate, and
was understood to carry with it the
governor's approval.
Now, however, it is said that the
governor and some members of the
state administrative board are in
favor of still further changes. Legis-
lation providing for censorship will
be supported by the governor, it is
said, but certain revisions will be
necessary before any of the pending
measures will be altogether accept-
able.
SHOPS OF NICKEL'S ARCADE
CO-OPERATE IN ADVERTISING
The different shop owners in Nick-
el's arcade have co-operated again
this year in running a three-quarter
page advertisement in The Daily.
This advertisement is in the nature
of a plan and will indicate at the en-
trance of each shop what may be pur-
chased within.
Another feature of the advertisement
will be the directory of the upstairs
shop in the arcade. The court in the
middle will carry the arrow showing
the unsophisticated way to "The Maj."
