METROPOLITAN LIFE BREAKS
WORLD'S PREVIOUS RECORD
The annual report of the Metropol-
itan Life Insurance company on the
business of 1920 shows that the new
business placed on the books broke all
previous records in the world. Neith-
er the great amount of new insurance
taken out, nor the percentage of lapses
indicate depression in the business or
industrial world. The amount placed
in the United States and Canada was
$1,651,950,151 which is a gain of more
than two hundred and fifty million dol-
lars, as compared with the previous
year.
