y i UUIIUUI ULIWIIUL.U1 ANN ARBOR CHURCHES Dr. Henry Seymour Brown, super- intendent of the extension board of the Chicago Presbytery, will speak at this morning's service of the Presbyterian church on "Evangelizing a Big City." Dr. Brown is one of the leading workers in the big city church exten- sion problem and is leading a staff of social experts in work in tenement and foreign sections of the city. He will also speak to the young people's so- ciety of that church at 6:30 o'clock tonight. At the 10:30 o'clock cervice of the Congregational church Rev. Lloyd C. Douglas will talk on "The Charter," the fourth sermon-lecture of a series on "Life as an Industry." Rev. Sidney S. Robins wil speak on "Mr. Ford and the Ability to Think," at the Unitarian church this morning. At St. Andrew's Episcopal church Rev. Henry Tatlock will deliver the morn- ing sermon on "The High Calling for Life." Rev. Arthur W. Stalker, of the First Methodist church, talks on "The Bible's Eternal Appeal," at the 10$0 o'clock service this morning. "The Great Change," is the subject of Rev. J. M. Wells' sermon at the First Bapt- ist church. Rev. Lloyd Merl Wallick, of the Trinity Lutheran church will speak on "A Certain Tree" this morning at his farewell service as pastor of the church. "Ye of Little Faith," will be the subject of Rev. F. P. Arthur at the Church of Christ, Disciples, and "The Dangers of Self Exaltation," will be the subject of Rev. E. C. Stellhorn, at the Zion Lutheran church. Other metings of special interest during the day will be at the Congre- gational church where ,Mr. Charles D. IHurry, of New York City, will address the students' forum at 12 o'clock. Mr. Hurry is general secretary of the com- mittee on friendly relations among foreign students. The secretary of Japanese students, Dr. K. Kato, of New York City, wil speak to Congre- gational students at 6:30 o'clock to- night in the church parlors. An invitation has been extended to all students to attend a special mus- ical service at 4 o'clock this afternnon at the First Methodist church. Thirty Years Ago (From The Michigan Daily of January 30, 1891) Active preparations are now being made for the trip of the Glee club in April. Manager Ramsay has secured' the use of the private hotel car "Chi- cago," and the boys will be able to travel with comfort, without being an- noyed with the continual changing of cars. The boys will wear the mortar board and University gown while giv- ing their concerts. The club will have its picture taken next Tuesday morn- ing. The boys sang in a phonograph last Wednesday evening. Both the Glee and Banjo clubs left for Detroit this morning to participate in the exercises of the D. H. S. Alum- ni association. They will sing the "Yellow and Blue," "Ann Arbor," and "Carpe Diem." The Banjo club will also render three numbers. It is not generally understood that the Glee club will sing at Ypsi on Feb. 7. This being Saturday evening, it is hoped that a large number of stu- dents will accompany the boys, and inspire them by that enthusiasm which the U:of M. college yell always brings forth. Arrangements will be made by the Ypsi and Ann Arbor road so that H. A. LA SOCIEDAD HISPANICA ARRANGES LECTURE PROGRAM A course in Spanish lectures has been aranged for next semester by La Sociedad Hispanica. Mr. Julio del Toro will speak on Spanish American writers, Feb. 29; Mr. G. L. Michaud! will give an illustrated lecture on "The Progress of Education in Costa Rica," March 9; Mr. N. L. Willey will speak on Benito Jugarez, March 24; Prof J. M. Albeladejo on "Popular Seren- ades in Spain," April 27. At the end of the course the Spanish society plans to give a dansant to which the holders of lecture tickets are privileged to attend.
