Prof. Walter E. Lay, head of the department, will conduct a two weeks' course in the mechanism, oper- ation and maintenance of motor trucks, tractors, and trailers. It will extend from Feb. 7 to Feb. 18, being one of the series of graduate short period courses in highway engineering and highway transport conducted this year for the first time. The course will include lectures, library reading, and laboratory demonstrations. Prof. John N.'Nickelson, associate of Professor Lay, will conduct a sem- inar in automobile engineering. This will include a review of articles cov- ering current changes in automobile design and important events in the automobile industry. Papers covering particular phases of the automobile engine or chassis will be written and discussed by members of the class. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS DETERMINED BY COMMITTEE Representatives From Different Juni. ior Colleg -4onferred with ummittee Requirements for admission to the University of Michigan from junior colleges in this state were determined by the University committee "n jun- ior colleges and representatives of the colleges throughout the state at a con- ference yesterday afternoon at the Union. Following acceptance of the requirements by the University faculty they will go into effect, and the ac- tion will be taken at an early date it is thought by members of the com- mittee. Prof. C. H. Van Tyne, of the history department, and chairman of the Uni- versity committee on junior colleges, presided at the conference which was attended by five representatives of junior colleges in the state. Bishop Speaks on Manuscripts Librarian W. W. Bishop gave an il- lustrated lecture on "Books and Man- uscripts of the 15th Century," before a meeting of the Fellowship club, of Saint Paul's cathedral, last night at Detroit.
