W. Patterson, of the engin- eering college, died Friday in New York from pneumonia, as the result of an anaesthetic administered in an operation for appendicitis last week. Mrs. Patterson studied bacteriology during the first two years of the war,' and in 1916 went overseas, where she was attached to a hospital near the front. During the great German drive of 1918 she worked under fire unceas- ingly for three days and nights car-; ing for the wounded. She was cited for bravery and awarded the croix de' guerre.w On leave in Paris she met Lieuten- ant Patterson, also a wearer of thel croix de guerre. They were married in France, and after the war lived for a short time in Ann Arbor. She wass strong and supposed to be entirely well before liar sudden illness. Professor Patterson left Friday night for the funeral at Cooperstown, N. Y. Reac The Dnilv for Campus News. POINT SYSTEM BLANKS SENT OUT BY LEAGUE It was explained at the meeting ofj the board of representatives of the, Women's league held Saturday morn- ing at Barbour gymnasium that thei "Point System" announcement which is being sent to all campus houses is not to be confused with the "Honor Point System of the Women's Athletic association. The "Point System" is the rating of student activities according to the amount of time which they take. No girl is to carry more than 10 points at one time. Its purpose is to dis- tribute campus honors and duties and to prevent students from undertaking too much outside work. Stylus Gives Tea for New Members Stylus entertained its newly elect- ed members at a tea at 4 o'clock yes- terday afternoon in Foster's tea room. The new members are Maud Hind- man, grad., Marjorie Avery, '21, and Alice Comfort, '21. A short initiation at the Delta Delta. Delta house pre- ceded the tea. Michigan Dames to Meet Tuesday The Perry Night School for For- eigners is the subject of a talk which will be given by Mrs. Eula Avery at the next meeting of the Michigan Dames at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening in Lane hall.
