With an'enrollment of 40, the stage dancing class had its first meeting Monday evening. Hereafter the dan- cers will meet at 8 o'clock Thursday evening in the "Workshop.", Clyde Fitch's "The Truth" will e studied at the meeting of the class in stage acting when the first practice in acting is held tonight. Students are evincing much interest in this course, according to Mr. Shuter. The play writing class meets on Thursday and studies the technique of play production. FELLOWSHIP OFFERED TO STUDY HAWAIIAN PINEAPPLE PLANT A research fellowship with a com- pensation of $1200 per year is being offered by the Hawaiian Pineapple Packers' association through the uni- versity of Hawaii. The purpose of the fellowship is to encourage investiga- tion in the physiology and pathology of the pineapple plant. The work requires a knowledge of plant physiology, physiological chem- istry, and plant pathology. The ap- pointment will be made for one year, subject to renewal for a period not to exceed three years in all, while the holder of the fellowship will work un- der the directions of the University faculty. Books on such topics as the Orient, South Seas, the community drama and the little theater :have been displayed. This Sunday books on contemporary fiction, essays, and poems will be available. "The Great Hunger" by Bojer, "The Tale of Three Hemis- pheres" by Lord Dunsany, "The Crock of Gold" by James Stevens, and "White Shadows of the South Seas" by O'Brien are representative of the collection to be shown. More than, 50 books on each topic are placed on one of the tables in the main reading room from which the student may take his choice. The books may be drawn out for one to two weeks. In the periodical room there will also be on display this Sunday vari- ous literary reviews such as the Lon- don Mercury, The Dial, Yale Review, and The English Review.
