The scoring of 0 EASTERN TEAMS STILL UDFAE Unbeaten Teams Live Up to Expecta- tions in Last Saturday's Battles PENN STATE GIVEN SEVERE BLOW BY LITTLE LEHIGH When the opening whistle blew on eastern gridirons last Saturday seven undefeated teams were lining up for action. Harvard, Priniceton, Penn State, Pittsburg, Boston College, Wes- leyan, and Stevens Tech had fought through hard schedules with clean records. Some two hours later these teams emerged from the conflicts still undefeated with but one exception, Wesleyan having succumbed to Wil- liams by a 50 to 14 score, one of the biggest surprises of the day. Penn. State received a serious blow to her national title aspirations by allowing Lehigh to hold her to a 7-7 count.. Harvard Trims Brown In all the other contests, however, the undefeated teams lived up to ex- pectations by winning handily, some not even putting their strongest com- binations in the field. Harvard beat Brown decisively and managed to withhold her first team for the Yale battle. The Crimson seems to pos- sess the strongest eleven it has boast- ed since the days of Brickley, Hard- wick, and Mahan, a team that was rather disappointing to its followers in the Princeton set-to but one that has displayed potential powers, which, if developed to the limit, will be hail- ed as the greatest eleven along the seaboard. Princeton, by its second successive victory over Yale, accomplished a feat which every Tiger supporter has been looking for. The Nassau team completed its schedule Saturday with an impressive record of victories and a tie. Contrary to pre-game ex- pectations, Ropers' team did not use its much vaunted over-head attack, but displayed instead u running of-, fense that stamps it as one of the tour greatest teams in the East. Boston College Strong No title claims should be awarded without giving some consideration to Boston College, whose defeat of Yale for the second time in two years was a clean cut triumph for the -colle gians. The margin of victory in this game compared to Princeton's score last Saturday gives the Bostonians a substantial claim to distinction. Penn State prior to the Lehigh setback had been judged the East's strongest. Her decisive defeat of Ne- braska gave her record an intersec- tional aspect, and no eastern team had been able to match Bezdek's giants. Ave. Com- plete course for $10 00.-Adv. (By Bob Angell)I History is repeating itself in Con- ference football this season. Not only will Ohio and Illinois meet in the final game of the year to decide the cham- piionship of the Big Ten, as was the case in 1919, but these two teams ap- proach the battle with exactly the! same records as a year ago. l The 14 to 6 defeat of the strong Ill- ini team by the Badgers last Saturday is merely a repetition of what occur- red last year. It remains to be seen whether Illinois will repeat its per- formance and beat Ohio in the last 15 seconds of play for another Confer- ence title. Indians May Have Claim If Illinois should beat the Buckeyes and the Badgers should down Chicago, the Indians would have a claim to the title on the percentage basis. In that case Ohia and Wisconsin would each have won four contests and lost one, whereas'the Illinioa eleven would have five victories to its credit and one de- feat.; The best Wisconsin can hope for is second place 'in the event that Ohio wins at, Urbana and shoves the Illini down into third position.
